Slow progress...

I've come this far on the loco, the summer season is more for running than building...

I do have the cylinders turned, though...

And the pistons, even though there are no rods yet. Here you can see how I made the piston rings, using strips of teflon, 2 mm thick, backed up by O-rings to give the necessary resilience. Note the lap joint which will provide a steam-tight seal.

Below, the cylinders are attached to the frame, and the crossheads are in place. Still a lot more to do, all the levers of the Walschaerts motion are still missing...

The smokebox cover ready for painting...

The last loco of this series was numbered 999, and I chose that as my road number - it kind of relates to the number 666 of the 0-6-0! In fact, I can use the same number plates... ;-)

So, this is how far I've come now - note that the Walschaerts mechanism now has all the levers in place, even though the valve is still missing:

I also have done the "spinning" of the dome tops, and soft-soldered them to the dome tubes (which are CuNi, of course... ;-)

An ordinary wood hole saw enabled me to open up the bottom of the dome flange.
